Gayatri Saldivar
MS, RDN, CLT, IFNCP

Functional Medicine Dietitian / Founder

Gayatri is an expert in lab-based protocol design, specializing in addressing the root causes of chronic fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, gut issues, weight gain, and autoimmune conditions. Her approach, rooted in the functional biochemistry lineage of Dr. Richard Lord, utilizes the Kalish method and nutritional genomics to address imbalances at the cellular level.

Practicing as a registered dietitian nutritionist in Berkeley, California since 2017, Gayatri’s training includes a BS from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MS in Dietetics with 1200 hours of supervised practice through Eastern Michigan University. She holds additional certifications as a LEAP therapist and an advanced practice functional nutrition practitioner. Gayatri has trained under the guidance of Dr. Dan Kalish since 2020 at the Kalish Institute and focuses on balancing the gut-hormone-detox axis utilizing diet, lifestyle factors, and science-based labs to facilitate true healing.

  • Gayatri became interested in functional nutrition to gain tools and science-backed data that transcend beyond the “calories in, calories out” approach for energy balance and her metabolic health. Though undiagnosed, she had struggled with a connective tissue disorder since the age of 9. Functional nutrition offered solutions and helped put the focus back on health as the currency for longevity. Gayatri founded The Functional Clinic Immersion Mentorship in 2023 and trains dietitians and up-and-coming dietetic interns in functional nutrition. She is currently working on an eBook and is pursuing an additional credential as a Physician’s Assistant.
  • By recognizing triggers, managing stressors, and providing personalized support, Gayatri empowers young adults and busy professionals to feel their best and be symptom-free so they can pursue their true journey in life! She has helped hundreds of clients optimize their health and regain their life back. What would you do with your life if you didn’t have to heal your body?

Rebecca is a registered dietitian at 23 Nutrition Therapy and works behind the scenes creating and managing content. Rebecca graduated from San Diego State University and completed her dietetic internship at Wellness Workdays. Rebecca is passionate about weight loss counseling, infertility and the correlation with hormone imbalance, nutrition education during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and nutrigenomics. Rebecca became intrigued with studying nutrition when her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and was seen by a registered dietitian at the hospital. This led Rebecca to start a breast cancer awareness club on her college campus. Rebecca was fascinated by learning about how certain foods have anti-cancerous properties. By observing and learning from Gayatri Saldivar, the 23 Nutrition Therapy founder, Rebecca has become passionate about educating others about hormone disruptors, the liver detox system, and the 3 body systems – the gut, liver, and brain.

Liza Gofman
BS in Dietetics

Volunteer

Elizabeth (Liza) Gofman is a second-year grad student at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Liza has been with 23 Nutrition Therapy for almost three years, working behind the scenes, writing informative blogs, and collaborating with the team on various projects. A northern California native, Liza got her BS in Dietetics with  a minor in Biological Sciences (focusing on Neurobiology) from Arizona State University before moving back to the West Coast to obtain her Master of Science in Nutrition, focusing on molecular nutrition. She is currently completing her Dietetic Internship and supervised clinical practice through various rotations while preparing for the RD exam. While in grad school, she also works on a research study addressing cancer risk prevention with California Wildland firefighters. Her research focuses on nutrition communication, health prevention, and education. Liza is passionate about effective nutrition communication, health prevention, root cause treatment, and hormonal medical nutrition therapy.

While always passionate about health, wellness, and nutrition, Liza became intrigued by functional dietetics and medical nutrition therapy from her own experiences with GI dysfunction. After countless conventional methods proved ineffective, Liza set out to learn more about functional nutrition to take control of her health. With an initial educational background in Neurobiology, seeing the gut-brain connection is what ultimately led her to shift her focus to integrative Dietetics in hopes of becoming an expert in the field. After seeing the available resources, she found her passion in nutrition communication to help educate others to take back their health using evidence and science-based strategies.

My name is Nisa Zamora, and I am an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, majoring in Media and Global Cultural Studies. As a volunteer intern at 23 Nutrition Therapy, I use my background in media to support the creation of informative and evidence-based content that promotes functional medicine and nutrition. My focus is on making this information accessible and easily digestible through modern technology and media, utilizing tools such as videos, social media posts, and email newsletters.

Studying Media and Global Cultural Studies at UC Berkeley has equipped me with strong research, communication, and analytical skills that I apply to advance the mission of 23 Nutrition Therapy. My academic journey has also deepened my understanding of how to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences—a skill that is invaluable in helping clients understand and adopt healthier nutritional practices.

Being early in my dietetic journey, one of my favorite aspects of working with 23 Nutrition Therapy has been the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with a team of fellow volunteers, interns, and practitioners. Together, we amplify 23 Nutrition Therapy’s goal of providing clients with the tools and resources to understand how their bodies work and lead healthier lifestyles.

From a young age, I’ve been deeply drawn to holistic health and well-being, a passion that stems from my personal experiences and cultural background. Growing up with family members from India, I was introduced early on to traditional practices that emphasize balance, prevention, and the body’s natural ability to heal. These teachings became especially meaningful to me as I cared for a parent with cancer and managed my own chronic illness. Through these experiences, I became increasingly disillusioned with the Western medicine approach that often focuses on merely treating symptoms rather than addressing the root cause of illness.

Searching for alternatives, I embraced holistic health. By incorporating lifestyle habits such as regular exercise, meditation, balanced nutrition, and adequate rest, I’ve experienced firsthand the transformative power of these practices. They’ve not only improved my physical health but also brought a sense of vibrancy and well-being into my life that I hadn’t known before.

This journey has fueled my passion for holistic health, and I’m committed to helping others discover how small, intentional changes in their daily lives can lead to profound improvements in their overall well-being. After completing my bachelor’s degree, my goal is to pursue a graduate degree in nutrition and become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Following that, I plan to get certified by The Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy (IFNA) to deepen my expertise in integrative and functional nutrition. This path will allow me to combine evidence-based practices with a holistic approach to health, enabling me to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others through personalized nutrition and wellness strategies.

I believe that by looking beyond just the symptoms and focusing on the whole person, we can truly transform lives and create a healthier, more vibrant world for ourselves and future generations.
